About Me

I have been at Highland Park (with two brief breaks) since 1976 as a teacher, parent and grandparent.  I have taught 3rd, 4th and 5th grade, but 4th is definitely my "home" because I love Texas history and I love to write!  I am the GT advocate for our campus and, with some terrific parent helpers, I've been in charge of the Science Fair for the past 29 years.  One of my favorite aspects of teaching is the constant opportunity to be a lifelong learner myself.  I've worked with archaeologists at the LCRA in developing the curriculum for the Kingsland site and been a volunteer at the Gault site near Florence.  Last summer, I attended a two-week course in drama-based instruction at UT and I really enjoyed sharing what I learned with my class this past year!
