Attendance Policy

Page history last edited by Tamra Snell 8 years, 4 months ago

Students should be in their homerooms promptly at 7:45 am. Before 8:00 a.m., children should report directly to their homeroom (tardies will be documented by the teacher). If student arrives after 8:00 a.m., the student MUST go to the office and get a tardy slip BEFORE he/she goes to their homeroom. If you are late due to a traffic accident, bus delay, or if you have a Doctor’s note, the tardy WILL be excused. Your child will still have a tardy on their record but it will have an excuse. All other tardy excuses are at the discretion of the principal. Remember that children learn by example! Set a good example for your child by getting up with a positive attitude and getting into a simple routine that allows for plenty of time in the mornings.

When your child is absent please email CC Luna (please list students full name, date of birth, teacher’s name and reason for tardy/absence). If a child is absent more than 3 days, we start calling until we get in touch with a parent. When your child returns to school, he/she has 48 hours (2 days) to get a note to the office explaining the absence. If you have a doctor’s note due to illness that would be best. Otherwise, please write a note detailing the days and the reason your child was out. This is a district policy and it is very much appreciated when we have to look back and see why children are out. If your child is out for any reason other than illness, the same policy applies. Write a note with the dates and reason your child was absent and get it to the office within two days of your child returning to school. For any absence other than illness to be excused it must be approved by the principal.

As always, please feel free to call me anytime with any questions regarding your child’s attendance. I can be reached at 414-1305, Monday through Friday, from 7:15 am until 3:30 pm. and via email.

Thank you,
